Paul, watching the only Montreal goal against the Bruins last night I recalled what you mentionned about positionning. The ref (I don't know the name of the ref) hiked himself up on the back of the net, to keep a clear line of sight on the puck, when Desharnais finally pushed it in. If he would have stayed in the corners the ref would have probably blew his whistle early, as he might have thought that Rask had covered it up (Rask never did).

I haven't seen that alot this year, a ref jumping up on the net like that, but it was nice to see.

Stewie, I would love your take on the Patrick Kane goalie interference call last night in Denver.

Stewy, Meltzer had a good idea in his blog yesterday. He stated that if the refs could see the replay them selves to get the call right(seeing as they really only have a split second to deside at real speed). I've seen the refs at ECHL games watch the replay in the scorers booth (only for goals though, just like Toronto does but at least the ref has the final say not some name less face less person miles away). I think the NHL should adopt this practice. Do you like the idea.

Paul, I was wondering what you thought of the calls made in the San Jose Toronto game Tuesday night. I'm referring to the tommy wingles no goal and Brent Burns goal. Both were waved off the latter was ruled a goal after review.

The NHL should give coaches challenge cards like they do in the NFL - each coach should be given 1 (or maybe even 2) challenge cards per game. So if a coach feels a call was missed he could challenge the play via video review (goals, penalties or even offsides that lead to goals). Also, if they lose that challenge via replay the team that challenged should be assessed a delay of game penalty.
